The new more European style of the 2008 to 2011 WRX STI belies its aggressiveness and ability to perform. Again featuring the 2.5 litre boxer engine and with the 2011 version the reintroduction of the sedan sees these cars maintain their cult status as a serious road car for performance enthusiasts.
The 2006 STI saw the introduction of the 2.5lt boxer engine, providing more torque at low rpm. Its slightly more European styling and improved interior appealed to a wider market. The larger engine meant higher horsepower potential for those not looking to rebuild the old 2litre engine from previous models.
The 2001 to 2005 STI featured the namesake 2.0litre boxer turbocharged engine and gained Subaru's STIs status as a cult performance car. Even with the smaller engine, it has plenty of potential given the right modifications and its engine is almost bulletproof in its ability to perform.
