
Taking

next level is APS' Phase III system for the Ford
XR6 Turbo. Starting with the foundations for power
with the Phase II system, the Phase III system
adds a larger air-to-air intercooler to ensure
the engine can perform at higher power levels
and in the extreme heat conditions that are common
place in Australia. Changes to the fuel system,
air intake system, wastegate control system and
the mapping of the Unichip ECU result in a stunning
390kw vehicle that idles like a stock XR6T yet
has the power to deliver high 11 second/low 12
second quarter mile times.
PHASE III smart power also means improved throttle
response and great day to day driveability Along
with crisp turbocharger response, a tidal wave
of torque and tyre frying horsepower, the APS
PHASE III High Output System delivers relaxed
cruising, excellent fuel economy and a huge shot
of adrenalin every time you lean on the throttle.
High
powered turbocharged engines rely on highly efficient
intercooling to ensure a significant and consistent
reduction in charge air temperature.
For the APS PHASE III High Output System, APS
shoehorned the largest and most efficient bar
and plate intercooler core money can buy into
the front of the XR6 Turbo - for the highest possible
engine performance. Whilst it would have been
technically easier and much cheaper to utilize
an Australian produced tube and fin core, it would
compromise engine performance and indeed the APS
philosophy where only the best will do - and in
this case, Europe's finest intercooler core has
found a home in the APS PHASE III High Output
System. Massive reduction in charge air temperature
combined with minimal pressure loss through the
intercooler results in the ultimate in air to
air intercooling for the Falcon XR6 Turbo.

stainless steel Tig welded exhaust, the highly
specified fuel system, enormous bar & plate
front mount intercooler, technical sophistication
of the Unichip computer, and the precision of

The Dyno Dynamics graph to the right demonstrates
power and torque at the wheels on a manual Falcon
XR6 Turbo fitted with the APS PHASE III High Output
System. All dynamometer tests were conducted in
4th gear utilizing the trusted Dyno Dynamics Shootout
mode software. This is the respected industry
standard as used in Summer Nats Horsepower Hero
competitions.
Tests were conducted using Shell Optimax 98 RON
fuel and is mandatory for APS PHASE III applications.
We have now tested many standard Falcon XR6 Turbo
vehicles and have found that power figures vary
by up to18 kW (best to worst) from vehicle to
vehicle. These power variances are due to a number
of factors such as variation in engine component
clearances, run-in status of engine and drivetrain,
variation in turbocharger boost pressure and fuel
mixtures. Consequently, power figures obtained
with engine enhancements may vary accordingly.


During recent testing the APS
PHASE III XR6 Turbo managed to become Australia's
fastest XR6 Turbo with a terminal velocity of

APS PHASE III Storms into the 10 second
1/4 mile bracket
Vic Elfes in a blood orange XR6T made history
by storming down Sydney’s brand new ¼ mile
drag strip in an outstanding 10.98 sec @ 124.74
mph. This not only sets the ¼ mile performance
benchmark, but also becomes the first XR6T to
